I am voting for Laurie because of his good work on the planning commission, his commitment to quality of Life in South Burlington and his sense of fairness and equity.

I know Laurie as a neighbor committed to working for the greater good of our neighborhood, city and beyond. I respect his efforts to improve our community in a variety of ways by way of membership on neighborhood and city committees. He cares, gives his time and takes action. His net zero home is a fine example for us all.

I am thrilled that Laurie has decided to run for City Council.  As we face some of the most difficult challenges of our generation, Laurie has the wisdom and experience to lead South Burlington into a bright future. He is a careful listener, shows deep respect for opposing views and tirelessly seeks solutions that are both balanced and measured.

I support the candidacy of Laurie Smith for City Council. Laurie has been an active participant in important city discussions as a commissioner on the Planning Commission.
He is thoughtful, seeks understanding and consensus through dialogue, and brings a wealth of experience working with local and state policy as a longtime professional in construction. I believe that today’s and future generations of residents will benefit from his leadership.

I was delighted to learn that Laurie Smith is running for City Council. I have had a close up view of his integrity, tenacity, and leadership skills. Laurie’s long experience as a builder and his devotion to civic participation have given him a wide-angled view of the problems and opportunities of small municipalities. He has my whole-hearted endorsement.

Laurie and I are both planning commissioners. We have worked together for the past year on the 2024 City Plan. The City Council has just approved it. Laurie’s leadership was integral to the development of the plan. It was Laurie who inspired us all to ensure that climate change would be the guiding principle for City policy during the eight year plan. As winters become more and more a series of rainstorms and summers extend from April to November we, and he, will be seen as visionaries eight years from now.

It has been a pleasure to be on the Planning Commission with Laurie during the preparation of City Plan 2024.  Laurie listens to opposing views finding solutions that are balanced and meet the needs of the community.  Laurie’s experience as a builder coupled with his commitment to a sustainable environment and sustainable growth will be a great addition to our City Council.
